Nancy Cheeks has always had a heart for children. When she first volunteered to help in her church 10 years ago, she fell in love with ministry and especially with serving children. At the Pavilion, she has been instrumental in creating an atmosphere where our children are excited to come to church because they have fun learning about the Lord. Nancy is leading a team of people dedicated to helping our children understand the love of Christ and how to experience and welcome His presence. As Nancy puts it, “By building a strong spiritual foundation for our children to stand on, this will help them as they grow, to love and accept who they are and not to feel like they have to be like anyone else.”
Nancy, and her husband Jesse have been married 10 years and have two daughters—Gabrielle, age 10 and Alyssa, age 7. As a couple they have been faithful to serve wherever needed — as teenage youth pastors, ushering and greeting, clothes closet outreach, nursing home outreach, food servers, His Hands Ministry, etc. These years of faithful service has given Nancy strong ministry experience and a well-rounded ability to head the Pavilion children’s department and to lovingly lead our children. “I look at all the beautiful children that God has created and I get to be a part of their life. What a blessing it is to serve them!”
